With each project team having toolkit, I can use my time more efficiently to plan. The project team can use XER toolkit to open the xer files in excel and have more enhanced viewing, editing and presenting control than the planning software. This accessibility increases the teams input and buy in to the programme with more confidence in on time delivery.
A key feature to me as a Planner is schedule quality where I can set my own parameters and typically incorporate contract restrictions and then check the programme compliance with a specific contract such as NEC3. In addition the toolkit then extracts the activities which are not in accordance so that these can be identified and amended.
The Toolkit also enables a simplistic view of the project calendars in use so that working periods can be understood and communicated for different activities.
The most valuable feature is the Toolkits ability to translate and present Earned Value into a format that can be thoroughly interrogated and understood. The EVA Summary Report incorporates drop down selections where I can select any resource, cost account, activity or item in one click providing the complete graphs instantly together with supporting earned value data. As al the information is in excel it is fully customisable and I can personalise to any needs.
I can also produce my own dashboard or use pre-loaded templates to present the data to suit my organisation or client requirements.
Toolkit will also check the changes from the last programme revision(s) which is summarised into ta simple spreadsheet showing what has changed whether it be activity duration, logic dates and additional activities and many more.
The available Toolkit options provide the planner with an excellent sanity check of the programme being able to explore all components of the programme in an excel format unrestricted by views and ability to customise.
