How to assign a project baseline

In XER Toolkit, projects can be assigned with a corresponding baseline, similar to Primavera P6. If the baseline project file isn’t already uploaded, you can do so by clicking the import button on the top right. If you can’t see this button, you’ll need to ask a project controller user to upload the file and then share it with you.

On the project you want to work on, look to the right-hand side and you’ll see the baseline icon. A grey icon indicates that no baseline has been assigned. Click on the icon to open the baseline and linked projects interface. This will open a new window where you can find the baseline by using the filter tools at the top or manually locate it yourself. Select the baseline and then click the blue Assign button in the bottom right of the window.

You’ll now notice two things. First, the baseline icon is now coloured in green. Secondly, the example project baseline programme has disappeared from the folder below. To see the applied baseline, click the Closed button to set the project as open. Navigate to the Schedule menu on the left and then select Live versus Baseline. Different activity types can be identified with the key below the schedule. You’ll see that the baseline activities are indicated by the colour orange.

The XER Schedule Toolkit also allows you to remove and swap project baselines. You can do this from the project manager page. Click the baseline icon again and the linked projects dialogue will reopen. To unlink the original baseline project, navigate to the bottom of the window, press the cross and then click the Modify button. The baseline file will reappear in your folder so you can use it again if needed.
